Want to hear some exciting news? Of course you do. Cisco and Microsoft have entered into a three-year sales and go-to-market collaboration deal. The result will deliver integrated cloud and datacenter services to enterprises. The two suppliers will put their first year focus on UK, Germany, France, US, Canada and Australia.
Both of the Microsoft and Cisco teams will join forces to migrate Windows 2003 customers to Windows 2012 R2 on the Cisco UCS platform. This union is well timed, as Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 reach the end of support in July of 2015.
As part of this, Cisco added that both companies would be investing in sales, marketing, and engineering resources. The two companies will integrate technologies across cloud and datacenter markets, such as Cisco UCS and Cisco Nexus switches with Microsoft Cloud OS services such as Windows Server, System Center, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure.
“From innovative technologies and global brands to specialized channel partners, Cisco and Microsoft have the ingredients to transform the traditional datacenter,” said Frank Palumbo, senior vice-president, Global Data Center and Virtualization Sales, Cisco.
The agreement will also see Microsoft integrate services with Cisco to focus on private cloud, server migration, service provider, and SQL Server 2014. Cisco-based integrated infrastructure services will include FlexPod.
The collaboration also means that future releases will feature Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure and Cisco InterCloud Fabric integrated into Microsoft cloud services.
The joint efforts are poised to transform datacenters and accelerate the customer’s journey to the cloud. This creates a true hybrid environment capable of addressing the countless needs of various customers. ISI is already capable of supporting reporting, recording, and voice traffic management needs of Cisco and Microsoft communication platforms, even in a mixed environment.
Cloud is easier than ever, and two of the juggernauts are joining forces to give customers a faster, more affordable, and improved solution.
