The American Telemedicine Association defines Telemedicine as "the use of medical information exchanged from one site to another via electronic communications to improve a patient's clinical health status." Video is increasingly part of telemedicine. Whether it is face-to-face consultation, or the review of imaging results, video can be a critical part of any telemedicine initiative.

Cisco Health Telepresence is a good example of a video based telemedicine solution. With Cisco Health Telepresence, physicians at a major medical center can consult with community hospital physicians to aid in patient care. An example of this occurred at the Arizona Health Sciences Center. The center used Cisco Health Telepresence to provide equal access to medical care for state's rural communities, prison populations, and tribal nations. This is just one instance of how telemedicine can be used to improve the quality of healthcare, increase access, and drive down costs.

ISI's Call and Video Recording is an ideal complement to any video based telemedicine initiative. With this solution comes a number of benefits, such as:
  • supplying a recording of the actual session, which can be inserted into the medical record for future reference.
  • providing patients with a recording via email, thumb-drive, or DVD for their own records.
  • utilizing recordings to avoid potential malpractice claims.
By including the actual recording (both the voice and video), you no longer have to rely on notes or transcriptions for future reference. The actual consultation is right there for you.

One concern, of course, for any recording solution in healthcare is confidentiality. HIPAA is of utmost importance in every case. By partnering with ISI Telemanagement Solutions, you can ensure that you are partnering with a vendor who understands HIPAA. Additionally, the Verba Voice and Video Recording solution has multiple security features that makes it ideal for a healthcare environment.
