From the Floor of Cisco Live: Cisco CEO John Chambers' Keynote Address

Posted by on
Cisco CEO John Chambers started this year’s Cisco Live on a high note. He was inspiring, thought provoking, and confident with Cisco’s new focus. The focal point of his speech was on connecting people, processes, and data. The Internet of Everything, if you will.

Using farming as an example, Chambers demonstrated how the Internet of Everything ties together our technical world. For the scenario of the farmer, he spoke on how technology will evolve the agricultural sector. By utilizing sensors, the farmer can monitor the precise growth patterns of his crop.

The connections don’t stop there. The farmer will be able to determine how healthy a crop is, if it is ready to harvest, and even which crops need to be watered. The benefits of this scenario are impressive. However, as Chambers reminded the audience, “99% of the world is still not connected.”

From here, the address focused on Cisco growth drivers tied to technology transitions. Cloud, mobility and video are the current market leaders. However, Chambers suggests future growth to include emerging markets, services, software, and security collaboration.

The Internet of Everything will affect everybody. It will revolutionize agriculture, health care, business, and much more. The possibilities are endless, and Cisco continues to be on the forefront of innovation. To put it simply, growth is the Internet of Everything.
