Project Manager

Summary of Responsibilities:

This is a high-end position, requiring an experienced professional, who fully understands how to manage complex projects. Requires a high level of technical/telecom knowledge, due to the in-depth nature of the accounts and projects assigned. Assigned to "high-end," large-scale projects for all products deployed as onsite installations. Supervises and manages installation of assigned hardware and software products. Manages each unique installation as a project. Serves as a primary liaison between customers and ISI, during the pre-installation and installation phases, as well as serving as an internal contact point for field installers. Schedules installation dates and ensures equipment is shipped correctly and on time from ISI to meet the scheduled date. In addition the project manager will monitor the status of projects, timing and staffing of available field installers. Interfaces with other departments to ensure ability to deliver systems and services. Ensures completion of projects from initiation to delivery, training of customers and follow-up support. Provides sales leads to increase revenue opportunities for the ISI Group.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. The Project Manager requires a high level of technical/telecom knowledge, due to the in-depth analysis of customer requirements, including analysis of customers' network and telecom environments, telephone call rating requirements, alarm requirements, report requirements, and overall intent of the use of the system.
  2. Since each customer site is uniquely configured, must work closely with the customer during the Post-Sale, Pre-Installation phase to ensure appropriate preparation of customer site for installation, through telephone contact (or onsite site surveys) with end-users and third party vendors.
    1. Verifies customer provided hardware meets ISI specifications.
    2. Gathers critical information for installation, such as PBX settings, dataload configurations, report requirements, etc.
    3. Reviews and understands customer telephone call rating requirements.
    4. Verifies system will meet the customer's needs and expectations will be met based on determination of customer objectives and expected utilization.
    5. Compiles a data gathering workbook that encompasses all customer-provided information, as well as documenting customer expectations.
    6. May be required to meet at customer's location for pre-installation planning.
  3. Uses discretion to schedule appropriate installer (based upon required skills and geographical region) for installation and training. Sets agenda with customer.
  4. Ensures correct company provided equipment is shipped to customer prior to the installation dates.
  5. Verifies the customer's acceptance of the system and the adequacy of the training rendered.
  6. Accurately maintains associated data, files and records regarding the installations. Accounts for time spent on all activities.
  7. Prepares project status reports and conducts project status meetings.
  8. Provides sales leads to increase revenue opportunities for the company, according to the stated sales lead goal assigned based on product, position, etc.
  9. Determines his/her own training needs and ensures that respective supervisors are aware of training needed to grow with the assigned responsibilities.
  10. May occasionally be required to work flexible hours to support special customer needs or to participate in personal training and development activities.
  11. May occasionally be required to travel to customer/prospect locations for pre-Sales/pre-Installation planning.

Education and Minimum Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 + years experience in Project Management; PMP preferred
  • Solid communication skills, strong leadership and decision- making abilities
  • Proven ability to manage several ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Technical problem solving ability
  • Telecom experience preferred
  • Must be able to travel 10% - 15% of the time.
